Reflection on my work

I think this project was very fun, I really like Sci-fi and I think that being able to imagine how it would be and to record it all was an amazing experience. The place and time I chose were very challenging because I had never heard of it and so it was all very new for me. I found it very interesting that the British were threatening to bomb the Chinese ports if the trading rights were not adjusted and it actually helped many other European countries. If I had more time to complete this I would separate more each moment in the timeline in the posts. This project motivated me to find out more about countries that are still colonies today or ones that have had their independence only some years ago.

Hello fellow time travelers, today I am here to finish my journey through the years to find out more about the colonisation of Hong Kong. I am in 1997, the year the British are supposed to give china back the Kowloon peninsula and the other territories covered in the Peking convention. But the Chinese communist regime also wants the island of Hong Kong, I spoke to some of the British negociators and they told me that Britain has more to loose than to win on this deal and will return Hong Kong to china together with the other territories.

Hello fellow time travelers, today I continue my journey through the years to find out more about the colonisation of Hong Kong, I am in 1912 and the Chinese revolution brings more and more refugees to the island making the population rise to 1.6 million people. On to the 40s I go, coordinated Japanese attacks devastate the island, leaving its population to only 600,000 people. I spoke to some of the people left and they told me that the Japanese regime was terrible and many of their friends and family died of starvation. Forward to the 50s and communism, this brings many nationalist immigrants into Hong Kong afraid of the communist regime, making the population boost to 2.3 million people.

Good day my fellow time travelers, today I continue my journey through the years in China. With the ending of the East India Company  the Taipans, traders from around the world, came to fill in the gap the company left. But the same happened to them, their goods were of no interest to the Chinese. So they started to use Opium, the dried latex of the Opium poppy as a trading commodity. Opium wis used to make drugs and that concernes the Chinese government, so they decided to appoint Lin Tse-hsu to be high commissioner at the port. Lin told me it is very hard to stop all the Opium to enter china but he is doing his best get most of the Opium that is supposed to be traded. I traveled on to 1940, British ships have invaded many ports of China and are threatening of bombing the ports if their what they demand is not given. Again I travel, now to 1842, the Chinese and British have come to an agreement. The Chinese have given the British the rockey island that will be known as Hong Kong and also free trade with the mainland. The British government did not like the island, it was small and had only about 1500 people living from fishing in small wooden houses that were devastated by the Typhoons that passed by the island. But with the free port and space in the island other European countries came to trade with the mainland, labourers came from the mainland to build hoses and structures, in two years the population rose to 19000 people. On to 1860 I go, the second Opium war as it was called  led to the Peking convention, I spoke to the Chinese negocator and he told me that they weren't very happy but they had to give Britain the Kowloon peninsula and Ngon Sun Chau. These areas in the continent gave space for the port to expand and for more people to come.

Hello fellow time travelers, in this entry I have traveled to China to discover more about the British colonisation of the island of Hong Kong (as we know it). Today I spoke to a man, his name is John Stewart and he works at the English East India Company, he told me that it is very hard to trade with the "Hong", Chinese traders selected by the government. The items that the East India Company has are of no value to the Hong. I traveled forward three years to 1833 and found out that the East India Company was closed by the British government.
